Meal Prep Made Easy

“Meal prep made easy.”

This headline leads hundreds of Pinterest viewers to health food blogs regarding the popular new trend.  With thoughts of clean, healthy eating on a budget in their heads, many college students decide to buckle down and get started with their own meal prep routine.

Easier said than done, though.

I personally decided that I was going to begin meal prepping.  This worked great for a while.  However, I soon found myself in the middle of an incredibly busy schedule.  Slowly, I began to say,

“I’ll just eat out this once.”

“It would be easier if I just bought some Hot pockets.”

“I don’t have enough time to cook it this week.”

“I’ll start again next week.”

And now here I am eating Taco John’s and knowing darn well I should be making a grocery list for this upcoming week.  The truth is.  Meal prep is hard.  It takes a lot of dedication, planning, and a passion for healthy eating.  It’s also important to keep in mind that, at the end of the day, it is more cost effective to meal prep during the week rather than grabbing meals willy-nilly.

I may have gotten off track, but there are so many benefits to meal prepping.  My plan is to find a buddy who will do it with me and keep me accountable.  If you have any tips on how to keep up with meal prep, I would love to read suggestions in the comments below.

  1. Morgan,
I have really enjoyed reading your blog! Meal prepping is one of my least favorite things to do because it means staying up a little later the night before or waking up a little earlier the day of. I used to just go without food because I didn't want to deal with the prep. I have since come to realize that there are much better ways to live. I do my meal prepping in the evenings now while I watch Netflix. I found I like that better than waking up extra early.

  2. This is a great post and I can relate to this so much! My friends and I have been wanting to clean up the way we eat and save money but we just can never seem to stick with it. It is hard being busy college students with school, jobs, and internships but I know for me personally I tend to give into the temptation eating out. I think with accountability and good determination, being a consistent meal prep person can be achieved. Best of luck to you and your journey.
